Tijen İnaltong

Tijen İnaltogI was born in Eskisehir, in 1964. I studied City Planning and worked for international computer companies for seven years before I went to the U.S. for an M.A. degree in Public Relations. Following my return, I decided to research and write on food. My books have started being published in 2002. In 2003, I taught cooking classes in Istanbul, which were focused on healthy foods. Some of the classes were filmed and shown on major tv channels. The ‘Zen in the Kitchen’ course which was held in a hotel located on  Ida Mountain was filmed by a famous documentary filmmaker and shown on CNN Turkey several times. I had a weekly column at Radikal newspaper where I wrote on food culture and food related issues for two years. I write book reviews for the same newspaper’s book review section and have been writing articles for magazines such as Lezzet, Atlas, Karaf, Metro-Gastro, Formsante, Dr. Kuşhan Diet magazine, Buğday and Taste Anatolia. I’m one of the consultants for Food&Travel Turkey. I worked as a consultant for the Turkish Public TV’s (TRT) and TRT radio. I’ve translated four books, wrote articles to be published at books on food culture, given speeches at several conferences. In the last few years, I’ve been interested in learning food cultures of other countries, traveling often and writing articles/books on my observations and findings about the countries/cities I visited such as New York, Brazil, Syria, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Croatia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia. I have a project that I call “cooking for peace”. My goal is to bring people together around food.
